A research project in the Vietnamese folk arts heritage


Phan Gia Anh-Thư

M.A., Ed.M., Ed.D. student, Music & Music Education, Columbia University, Teachers College; B.Mus., Piano Performance, National University of Singapore; and a fellow at Temple University Center for Vietnamese Philosophy, Culture & Society (Philadelphia, 2016-present). Anh-Thư performs the piano in Vietnam, Singapore, and Taiwan, and also plays in master classes conducted by many internationally renowned pedagogues. She also plays Vietnamese đàn bầu (monochord) and đàn kìm (moon lute). Her research interests focus on improving life quality of underserved communities, especially Southeast Asian and cancer children, through music, visualization, and traditional games. She strongly believes that music is more than music of the Western European cultures and everyone deserves a high-quality music education at the lowest cost.
